  1. How do I register for a parking permit using the Internet?
                                                  
    Students may register on-line at mybama.ua.edu.  (New Students must confirm their schedules and then wait 48 hours before registering.) Click on the Student tab, scroll down to the Student Services section and click on "Register Here for a Parking Permit".  On-line registration is only available beginning in March and ends in July for Fall registration.  When registering at any other time through the year, please come to the Transportation Services office at 103 Student Services Center.  
                                                                
  2. Where may I legally park on campus with the permit I received?

    When you register your vehicle and receive a hang-tag you will receive a color coded map showing you the areas that you may park in between the hours of 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 4:30 p.m. all parking rules and regulations are in effect with the exception of zone parking. (Note: Handicap zones are in effect at all times)
                                                                
  3. What do I do if my hang-tag is lost or stolen?
        
    You should contact the Parking Services office at 348-8391 as soon as possible to report permit lost or stolen. If your permit is stolen on campus you should file a police report with the University Public Safety Department. Permits stolen off campus should be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency where the theft occurred. Please safeguard your permit and remember to lock your doors. There is a replacement charge for lost and stolen permits.
                                                                
  4. How many tickets may I receive before my car is subject to being immobilized/wheel locked?

    A. Three citations of any kind on an unregistered vehicle and your vehicle will be immobilized/wheel locked.

    B. Seventh and subsequent violations on a registered vehicle will result in your vehicle being immobilized/wheel locked. In addition to the $25.00 fine, a $75.00 release fee will be assessed, payable in cash or check at the time of release.
                                                                
  5. Do tickets start over at the end of every semester?

    No. Tickets are accumulated for a period of one (1) year beginning August 15th and ending August 15th of the following year.
                                                                
  6. How can I obtain temporary medical parking pass?

    Students who are disabled for medical reasons on a temporary basis must apply to Russell Student Health Center for special privileges and bring the request to the Office of Parking Services. You will receive an Emergency Permit to extend parking privileges beyond those for which they normally apply.
                                                                
  7. Can I use my hang-tag on any vehicle?

    Yes. The hang-tags are designed to be switched to any vehicle you park on campus.
                                                                
  8. What is the appeals process for a citation that I received on campus?

    Students, Faculty, and guest may appeal any citations issued on campus. The appeal should be filed within three working days from the date the citation was issued. Appeals can be made at the Parking Services Office. The student appeals committee meet every Tuesday at 6 p.m. (Unless otherwise indicated.)
                                                                
  9. What is crossover parking?

    Parking on the driver's left hand side of the street with two opposing traffic lanes (crossover parking) is prohibited. It shall also be improper to park facing out of an angular parking space against a one-way flow of traffic.
