Transportation Services’ Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) provides free vehicle assistance to UA students, faculty, staff and campus visitors.
MAP is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except during University closures. If the University is closed, contact The University of Alabama Police Department (UAPD) at 205-348-5454 for assistance.
MAP Services
MAP technicians can provide assistance with:
Battery Jumps
Get help jump-starting a vehicle with a dead battery.
Flat Tire Inflation*
MAP technicians can inflate a flat or low tire when appropriate.
Fuel Assistance
Receive emergency fueling assistance if your vehicle runs out of fuel.
*MAP technicians cannot change or repair tires or assist with tire replacement.

Before calling, have the following information available:
- Vehicle license plate number
- Vehicle make, model and color
- Exact location of the vehicle
- Description of the problem
- Your name and phone number
While You Wait
Remain with your vehicle until the MAP technician arrives. This helps ensure the technician locates the correct vehicle for assistance.
Before assistance can be provided, you must:
- Present valid identification
- Sign the Emergency Vehicle Assistance form.
