VEO E-Bike

VEO E-BIKE

What is VEO?

The University of Alabama has partnered with Veo to provide the UA community with an accessible, safe mobility option for students, faculty, and campus visitors.  The Veo devices fill a gap between mass transit, personal or shared vehicles, and foot traffic.

How To Start Using VEO On Campus?

  • Cosmo E-bikes can be found in designated bike racks on campus.  Click here to see a map of the bike racks around campus.
  • Getting started is simple. Using the Veo app, riders can scan a QR code and pay $1 to unlock the device. Riders then pay a $0.39 per-minute rate for the duration of their trip.
  • Upon completion of the ride, users should return the device to a designated parking corral or any bike rack within the service area. Users must take a photo within the app to confirm proper parking and end their ride. University of Alabama riders will receive a $0.25 Veo “Lucky Zone” reward for proper parking behavior.
  • GPS and LTE enable the company to track device locations and geofence areas that are no ride, slow ride, no parking, or recommended parking zones.

VEO Questions

General VEO Questions

How do I use a VEO bike (e-bike)?

To initiate a rental, you’ll need to download the Veo app and create an account.  Once you’re all set up, you can locate bikes on the map within the app.

How do I end my e-bike ride?

When you’re done with your ride, park the bike at a designated hub. There is a lock located near the back wheel, under the bike seat.  Push the slider on the lock to end your trip.  This will cause the app to automatically stop charges for your trip along with a trip summary.

Can I park an e-bike anywhere?

Technically, yes. But you’ll be charged an out-of-hub fee (and maybe an out-of-service area fee) if you don’t park in a designated Veo mobility hub. To avoid these fees, find the closest hub on the map in our app. It will be marked in teal with a small icon.

How do I find a place to return my e-bike?

Check out the map in the Veo app and look for teal areas with a small icon.

Operational Questions

What should I do if the e-bike has an issue while I’m using it?

If you experience a service or maintenance issue while riding, please report the problem in the Veo app.  Make sure to include the bike ID number that is located on the handlebar or lock.

What if I see a “No Parking” section on the map?

If you choose to leave a bike in that area, your account will be charged a fee. The Veo app will notify you if you try to park in an off-limits area.

Do I need to wear a helmet when riding an e-bike?

Veo encourages all riders to wear helmets, but they are not always required by law.  Check local regulations to make sure you comply with all local safety laws.

Can I ride a VEO bike to a football game?

Due to the traffic and pedestrian congestion during football games, Veo bikes will not be available on those days. You may see them at hubs throughout campus, but you will not be able to unlock them via the Veo app.
